easy golden milk recipe

Golden milk turmeric tea is not only satisfying but beneficial.

This ancient immune-boosting remedy is a great (and really tasty) way to incorporate turmeric into your diet. 

Better than simply taking supplements of turmeric, this recipe contains all the elements to help your body absorb the beneficial compound curcumin, the component of turmeric that makes it so good for you. The small amount of fat in the coconut (or almond) milk absorbs the compound and the black peppercorns help aid in your body's ability to absorb it. And the rest of the ingredients help make it taste AMAZING! 

A perfect relaxing beverage before bedtime, you can mix up a double-sized batch ahead of time and reheat as needed. But know this - turmeric can (WILL) stain porous surfaces, so keep that in mind when you're making up the recipe. 


Ingredients (makes several servings):

2.5 cups coconut or almond milk substitute (we prefer unsweetened coconut)
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 cinnamon stick
1-inch piece of fresh ginger root, sliced thinly
2 T raw, unfiltered honey
1/2 tsp whole black peppercorns

Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Let simmer for about 10 minutes before straining into you mug to enjoy.
